Report

Report:Parklangley's best looking and most lady pleasing team kicked off the summer league with a good performance against visiting Cobdown.

The 1s and 5s went on first. Both games swung one way and then the other. With both Parklangley players 2-1 up things were looking good for the home side. Alan mixed things up well against Kevin(PL) and some intelligent shots resulted in him taking a deserved 3/2 vistory (and later a deserved extra helping of lasagne!) while Kevin(C) battled back in a similar fashion against Mike at 5 to swing the match to Cobdown 2-0.

Gerald and Trevor playing very well at 3 and 4
against Chris and Shane settled PL4's nerves. after going 2-0 down. Both players mixing their games up well and both should have good seasons. Shane was unlucky to lose the first game against Trevor with both players having chances but Trev stumbling over the line before pushing on. Gerald started very well with some attacking shot-making, Chris came back strong in the second and third but maybe left it too late to take one of the games which would have made it interesting. Both Cobdown players will no doubt be out for revenge in the return.

With the match at 2-2, the number two pair went on. Graham made a good start taking the first after being 5-0 down. Andy was playing well however and got the better in the second with a change of tatics resulting in him win a tight and important game. The 3rd and 4th games were close affairs with some good quality rallies - Andy was able to win points at the right times and go on the odd run of two or three points in a row to stay just ahead of Graham to take his match 3-1 and the score on the night 3-2.

Good quality squash all round and our guests were excellent company, on court and off, and welcome back anytime. It seems a little unfair that they came away with only 7 points to our 18 as the night was closer than that suggests.

Look forward to the return
Cheers
