Report

Report:Parklangleys best looking and most lady pleasing team welcomed their guest Bromley CC 3 with their regular line up restored.

Andy went on first against Ian and took the first playing well, with the assistance of some errors from Ian. The scores were closer in the second with Andy edging out Ian towards the end to take a commanding lead. Ian upped his game in the third, increasing the tempo and Andy wilted like a tea-dunked degestive biscuit. Ian ratled through the 3rd and 4th games and although Andy rallied and battled in the 5th had the momentum and took the match. 1-0 BCC.

On the other court Mike was continuing some early season form against Ross. From the bits and pieces I saw in this one Mike was able to dominate his style of play while Ross hit a number of excellent winners Mike was able to pick up regular points to take the match 3-0. 1-1.

The 3s and 4s then went on. Gerald is playing extremely well at the moment at took the first from Dan fairly comfortably. The BCC 3 wasn't to be rolled over thought and played very well in the 2nd going (i think) 8-3 up. Little by little Gerald crawled his way back into the game and managed to take it 10/9. The third was then a fairly one-sided affair leaving Dan to rue little PL back into it. 2-1 PL.

Meanwhile Trevor was 2-0 down against James. James had played very well in the opening two games, dominating the T and hitting a number of quality winners on both sides of the court. With the match score apparantly about to go to 2-2 Trevor employed the mush used tatic of changing an obviously unlucky shirt and racquet combo to come out in the third. An early disputed call put fire in his belly and hit rattled into a 8-0 lead, eventually taking the game 9-1. I was dragged away to play at this point but Trev continued to keep his level high taking the next two games and given PL a 3-1.

The 1s went on last. Kevin was on generous mood and Tony quickly found himself 7-0 up. The first game contiued for a while at this score (none of the PAR rubbish going on here thank you very much) and while Kevin got a few points back Tony played too well to ever give his opponent a way back. The high quality end to the first continued into the second (well I though so anyway) with both players moving each other around with some long and intelligent rallies, Kevin eventually stumbling over the line to level the scores at 1-1 This continued into the third which was just take 10-8 by Kevin with the game ebbing one way then the other. Tony let Kevin in at the start of the fourth, giving him a run of points which enabled him to take the fourth and the match 3-1.

Another nights good squash with some high quality matches all the way through the order. Both teams non-playing "support" (wind-up merchants??) we in attendance and were full-throated in their support making for a lively atmosphere. Enjoyable company in the bar and we look forward to the return.

Cheers
