Report: | The Bromley Horror Show. I thought we had a pretty good team out despite the absence of our normal No.1 and captain, especially being fortunate enough to have Adam available, but it was Kevin's best looking and most lady pleasing team who walked off with a 5/0 whitewash.
As it turned out it was especially not a good night for Adam. A long journey, a 3/2 defeat, a busted racket, and an ice pack on a sore calf, and then another long journey. I suspect he was anticipating a more comfortable evening.
Ian and Kevin played out a strange match looking at the game scores. It was almost as if either player got his nose in front, the other player said ok you can have it. Unfortunately for us Kev got his nose in front in the decider.
James and Gerald had a good scrap with plenty of good rallies with James well on top in the early stages and poised at one point to win the game 3/0 having a couple of match points in the 3rd game. Gerald however hung on to nick that one and then played steadily to take the next 2 as James visibly wilted.
Didn't see much of Dan's match, but it looked like a fairly straightforward win for the experienced Andy. Siimilarly my encounter with Kevin was not particularly remarkable, although having come back from 6-0 to 6-6 in the 4th it would have been interesting if I could have sustained that revival and taken it to a decider.
Oh well - suppose I had better text Tony with the good news. That should make him choke on his efes. |
