Report: | On the back of last weeks great win against promotion hopefuls Blackheath, this week BCC were entertaining mid-table Biggin Hill.
The Apprentice was looking for revenge after he blew a 2-0 lead and six match points against Stuart the last time they met. It was déjà vu as The Apprentice won the first two games and went into a 6-1 lead in the third only to loose the plot and allow Stuart to lead 8-7. However, The Apprentice (or “Cock” as he calls himself after each bad shot) must have learnt his lesson as he came back to take the third game 9-8 to win the match.
Another rematch was Paul and Dean. Having been recalled to the side the pressure was on Paul to get his first win and book his place in the team for the next match. Although Paul won the first game (one more than he did last time) he lost the next three. Oh well, dropped again.
Back in the team after a mini break to retake his 11+ exams, Ross came up a against the much sharper and fitter Simon. Although Ross improved as the match went on the lack of match fitness and the extra two stone he’d put on since he last played saw him loose the match 3-1.
Rematch number three was Dan and Nick? Judging by the first two games in which Dan lost both 0-9, you wouldn’t have believed that Dan won last time they met. It didn’t help that since they last played Dan seems to have been on the same diet as Ross. Dan did at least make a fist of it in the third game and won some points, but Nick got his revenge and won the match 3-0.
The final rematch was Antony and myself. A bit like last week I was 2 games down before settling into my game. I won the third 9-1 and had chances to level it at 2 each, but my drop shots were consistently the wrong side of tin so ended up losing the match 3-1.
In spite of their talk of a new fitness regime, both Ross and Dan swerved the salad (with peas!) and dived into large helpings of pasta bake and chips. I hear the NHS are now fitting gastric bands!
