Report: | This return fixture offered Bromley the opportunity to avenge their only defeat of the season.
At 5, Tommy won the first game against Rob. Rob's line and length were off and Tommy looked commanding. The next game was a closer affair with Rob tightening up his line. But half way through Tommy started to make mistakes and Rob closed it out. The next two games were a repeat with Tommy playing well for only half a game before letting the errors slip in. Rob gratefully accepted the gifts and ran out a 3-1 winner.
Meanwhile, as I was marking Rob and Tommy's game I missed Darren and Tim's. Darren won the first, Tim the second, before Darren eased away to win the match 3-1.
My match against Brian was a strange affair with both players making lots of mistakes and neither palying as well as they can. But after losing the first Brian pulled his game together and won 3-1.
Steve and Peter also went 1-1 before Steve won the next two to win the match for Nuffield, giving us the double over Bromley.
Guy put up a brave fight against Ron and at times matched him, but in the end Ron's accuracy and low error rate told in each game and he won 3-0.
Overall a very good evening both from a squash point of view and socially. With Bromley promoted, we will miss playing them next season, if not Peter's marking, although to be fair he marked half a game last night without incident.
THAT IS A SLUR - MOST OF MY DECISIONS WERE QUESTIONED LAST NIGHT - PRM |
