Report: | Final game of the season and Parklangley's favourite team (why can't the other teams stop giving us a bad name - while acquisitions may have been rescinded Clive our good name has yet again being sullied by one of PL's two Div1 troublemaking teams) ... anyway Parklangley's favourite team played host to Brands Hatch, at our Old Dunstonian courts (again...)
Team stalwart Gerald missing to skiing, 13 year old Gina Kennedy was drafted in for her first match for Parklangley.
Kevin went on against Dave and as is customaray lost in three and left feeling he maybe could have done a little better - especially after hitting himself twice with the ball on game points in the thrid. Dave however is a quality player and deserved the victory.
Mike was playing Steve next door and this match appears to have been a repeat of the first half. Mike starting strongly with Steve coming back into it but unable to take a game. A good end to a good season for Mike.
Andy went on next and appeared to be going down comfortably but played well to come back into, and then take, the second. Matt responded well with some great shot making, moving Andy around and taking control.
Brands Hatch 2-1 up.
Gina went on next against Trevor in what was the game of the eveing. An extremely absorbing match the two 5s traded some nicely timed short shots and the scores and points were close throughout. Trevor will feel he should have taken the game to 5 at 8-4 up in the fourth but Gina showed exceptional fighting qualities to come back and take the game and match.
2-2.
Final match was Trevor against Paul. Trevor played extremely well at times and coupled with some unforced errors from Paul was able to take the game 3-0, although it was closer than the scores suggested.
The season ended with a close victory to PL and we decamped to the bar for some well deserved food and beer. All the best for next season.
Cheers |
