Report: | Chris promoted to 3, due to absences, found his nemesis, Scott, following him up due to form. Never recovered from the shock.
Tim was unlucky to be injured just as he was starting to dominate Neil.
John stayed close to a deceptively agile Adam until he got the desired point under his belt, then let the younger man off the leash.
Meanwhile the two upsets of the night were unfolding. Lee cruised to a 2-0, 7-3 lead, then amazingly hauled his opponent Mike alongside and allowed him to dictate. Even with several match balls in the 5th, Lee should have had the win, but could not get his nose across the finishing line.
Mark played some of his best squash ever for a game and a half. Then, at 8-6 in the second, Dave fell and badly twisted his knee. After several minutes off hobbling, he resumed and naturally took the next 13 points to go 2-1 up. By that time Mark had started to realise that something was wrong and stopped hitting the ball back to the middle of the court. Dave had been standing for so long on the T that he had stiffened up, and Mark was able to return to his earlier formula of winners and any other shots hard to reach.
So nearly an upset for the visitors.
