Report: | This week saw the visit of Fitness First who were on their second visit to Bromley in the space of one week as they turned up a day early!
First on were Ian & Terry. Crash, bang, wallop – Ian is back. Having had his operation some weeks ago Ian was recalled into the team slightly sooner than he’d planned due to a shortage of players. After a long slog fest in which there were several controversial marking decisions, Ian’s return was a winning one.
Mr Dependable (aka Graham) once again stepped in at the last moment to help out the team. Unfortunately he was up against Andy who is a strong number 5. Try as he did, Mr Dependable never quite had enough to trouble Andy.
Having made a less than favourable impression with his marking, Paul went on with Darren to demonstrate his squash credentials. Didn’t see any of this as I was on court, but judging by the score line it seems Paul would benefit from both a squash and a marking course.
Again, didn’t see any of James’ and Mo’s game as my game was still going on, but score line suggests a comfortable win for BCC’s ex-pretty boy and stand in number 1.
In my game John had me dangling on the end of his racket for the first two games. I managed to pull it back to 2-2 and was feeling the fitter going into the fifth. However, John had obviously held something back in reserve and won our match and, therefore, the overall team match, 3-2.
