Report

Report: Not a bad result for both sides, as many early summer absentees produced weakened teams. No change there.

Gary and Alex first on. Gary - already bursting from a tiff with his missus - was unhappy with an 'up' call when leading 8-4 in the first. naturally he lost that game - but the Matt Prior incident with a flying racket almost breaking a balcony window was unexpected. He recovered his composure well enough to take the match in 4 - a nostalia-inducing return to the old Gary skills triumphing over youth and fitness.

John v James - a tale of three halves. Having lost the first two, John managed politely to secure the services of 3 different markers - the last of whom contrived to win the next two games for him. Unfortunately there was noone left in the audience to produce the same magic in the fifth.

Allan's raw talent was not enough to overcome the canny Andrew. Allan needs a few years (or thirty) more experience before he can match the rest of his team.

Chris produced a solid display against the unorthodox Mark. Chris is probably playing out of position but Priory rules do not permit any change. Sorry to any unfortunate opponents he meets in the first half.

Martin and Stephen proved to have similar styles, which surprised Stephen for the first 5 points, which Martin won. However, once he had got used to 8-shot rallies - all of them triple wall cross-court boasts at the front of the court - with the artists performing dosi-dos and pirouettes around each other - Stephen had no trouble winning the 27 points needed for the match and the tie.

Well done Wells Sports - a new name on the block.
