Report

Report:Tommy and Richard kicked off the evening, Tommy a bit out of practice and Richard controlling most rallies with good length and nice boasts. All three games started close for a few points but Tommy's unforced errors did for him in the end.
Mark and Dan had a great tussle and played some excellent tactical squash. Mark always gives 110 per cent, at least, and showed fine determination to win the 4th game. Perhaps due to tiredness (somehow Dan looked fresh from beginning to end), Mark tried too many ambitious boasts and the match ran aways from him in the 5th.
Andrew and Mick's match was always going to depend on Mick's drop shots that have served him well for many years. Unfortunately, his less experienced opponent had the speed of youth on his side and picked off most of them with well-executed drops of his own.
John and Peter started close when at 6-6 in the 1st a collision reopened an old war wound in the ribs and Peter retired shortly afterwards. (In case of legal dispute I DID NOT walk on court injured; the wound was technically healed, bruising having resolved via nicely reorganised granulation and fibrous tissue in the required time since the original onslaught - thanks Syd - and in any case other organs are no doubt suspect but this is not the right forum to discuss those...).
Finally, Brian and Paul took the game up a few levels. After a hiccup in the 2nd, Brian regained control and brought play to a close.
As a bonus we were served fresh pineapple for dessert and as a further bonus (if not a minor miracle) attractive female tennis players helped wipe the dishes - but then glamour boy Brian was doing the washing-up!
