Report: | First off were Merciless Mighty Mark and Mild-Mannered Malcolm, so no prisoners taken there and one up to Bromley. Things looking good for the home team. Not for long though: Brian was being run ragged by Ryan and his usual banker shots were not coming off on the night. 1-1! Enter Kelvin and Anthony, seasoned players with similar games. Kelvin struggled to win the 1st game while Anthony was finding his shots after which he just got better. A fitter Kelvin would have made a closer match! 2-1. Meanwhile Richard was out-foxing Tim with timely boasts mixed with low drives, wrong-footing him more than most of Tim's opponents can do. Finally Peter looked to be thoroughly outplayed by Ed who was playing beautifully judged drops, drives and boasts for 2 games. However, Peter (more come-backs than Shirley Bassey) could see a touch of tiredness in the master and tried to capitalise on it. A 5th game would have been very nice but he let a lead in the 4th get nibbled away by some silly choices of shot and some great returns of serve from Ed. Well done PL5. Should be a good return match at the end of the season. |
