Report: | PL welcomed a strong BLT team to the hallowed surrounds of Park Langley for their first game of the season. The "Special One" promoted to number 3 after winning 16 out of 16 in the summer.
Andy and Paul went on first, Andy started well and looked in control until Paul changed the game around to take the first. A good respond from Andy saw him take the second - unable to push on though Paul managed to get the next two.
Only saw the last game between Mike and Mark at 5, a very close encounter had both players stretched to their limits. Mike was able to claim a very enjoyable (from a spectators point of view at least) 4th game to take the match.
Gerald started slowly against Keith; who played some of his sensible, good length stuff. As soon as I left Gerald took a game back but Keith apparently responded well to win in 4.
The "Special One" was up next against Ron. Overawed by the occasion the "Special One" choked badly in the first. Ron was 8-0 up in the second when looking over at the "Special One" and seeing his sad little face showed clemency on him and let him take the second. The spoils were shared in the next two games until Ron had had enough of the "Special One" and crushed the unbeaten streak (which had ran since Christmas 2010) in style.
Kevin was up next against the expected T.Easton ringer and started well but Shaun came back to clinch a tight second. Pushing on into the third, Kevin was able to respond to take the 4th. The final game appeared to be heading towards a thriller until a collision in the second rally left one player clutching a back and the other clutching a jaw. A jaw appears less serious than a back and Kevin was able to take the fifth with some ease.
A very enjoyable and entertaining nights squash, with good close games across the board. I'm off to join the players playing down disagreement / discussion / war - well at least until i find my team is one player short and have a rapid change of opinion :)
Look forward to the return.
Cheers
