Report: | As they say, 'it's an ill wind that blows knole any good'.
With David Lloyd's courts being converted to a creche, the fixtures were reversed and DL reduced to 2 teams instead of 3. As a result, there will no doubt be much jostling for places in the remaining teams, especially when the 'Surrey Boys' are available.
So Knole, without their top 3 through various surgeries, half terms and general unavailability, were up against it. Gary nearly surprised a lethargic Nathan, going to game ball with a simple winner missed in the first, before Nathan woke up and closed out. Good news for the return - Nathan is apparently giving up squash for Tai Kwondo.
Mark also surprised the form book, going 2-1 up against Toby before the relentless battering from Toby took effect and mark's quota of tins returned. The fifth could have gone either way but Toby sneaked it.
Tim managed to give away a 2-0 lead to the ageless Peter. John flattered to deceive by stealing the 2nd off Matt, but the result was never in doubt. And Martin failed to show his club form against a strong Michael at 5.
At this rate, KP might want to forget the Winter of 2011-12. But the marathon has yet to round the first turn, so let's not write them off yet. |
