Report

Report:Played on a Wed at Beckenham to enable the footy to be watched on the Tuesday. Some decent squash from both teams. Not so much at No 1 where Matt beat Kevin in a fairly scrappy game, and probably should have won in 3.

Geoff played well against Mike, to take a strong 3-0 victory. Paul and Gerald had a tight game with some long and punishing rallies with Paul doing enough at the right times.

Match of the night was at 3. Gina played Simon like a cheap banjo, teasing him in the first and allowing him to take a 2-0 7/2 lead. At which point she figured she'd had enough of giving him the run around and turned on the style, sending Simon to all corners of the court she won 9 straight points and then carried on into the 4th with a crushing 9/1 victory. Simon was a broken and beaten man and threw in the towel in the 5th. Claiming injury, sickness, tiredness and anything else he could only to be met with howls of derision from his team-mates.

Mark and Will went on in the final dead rubber. An enjoyable game with the squash gods smiling down on Mark he recovered from a good start by Will to take the match 3-1.

3-2 to Beckenham and we had some enjoyable conversation in the bar. The boxing wasn't good although Geoff opined some decent points about the merits of Women's boxing, while the sight of a crushed and beaten Simon, unable to muster the strength to lift his fork to his mouth (such was his disabilitated state)and eat his dinner brought tears to the eyes of all. Look forward to the return.

Cheers
