| Report: | A fixture that has been absent for a few years but always good to see Mr Fleming back on his old stomping ground (and a life member!).
Didn't see any of Rob against Chris but a fairly comfortable win from the scores.
Only caught the end of Alisdair against John but it was very close, John just edging it out but a fine performance from Alisdair in his first Priory match at the age of 13. A few more games under his belt and the return fixture will be interesting.
Will blew hot and cold against Mark and made the home crowd nervous by throwing away and 8-4 lead in the 4th but saw the 5th through comfortably.
Ian managed to confirm the Beckenham win with a victory in a match of few ralleys, both Ian and Gary adept at their winners but Ian ultimately having too much.
Last on were Geoff and Chris in what proved to be a dead rubber. Geoff took a quick lead in the first before stifling a late comeback and then taking the second with ease. The sight of Geoff chasing down everything in the summer has seemingly disappeared over the last few weeks as he resorted to winner or die and Chris managed to edge the third. The final game went each way for a while but a couple of late errors from Chris enabled Geoff to take the match and a comfortable victory in the end for Beckenham.
An enjoyable beer after and always fun to hear John explaining a double hit to a 13 year old when no-one else in the match thought it was. On the first point of the evening. |
