Report: | It started bad for Sundridge. Their no.1 called off as the teams were arriving. Pulling a number five off court in their local club he duly turned up 15 mins later. Did that mean Sundridge were going to have a bad night. SADLY NOT!
Dave hassled Simon around the court and never stopped running (does he ever?). The score line was bizarre to say the least. Simon not having played for several months (or so it appeared) couldn't muster the consistency to close the game.
Warwick was up 6-3 twice and 8-4 in the third and yet Richard dug deep and turned each one around. To take it 3-0. A good game but the result could have been very different.
Ian and Rich also had a good game until Rich went over injuring himself and the fourth 9-0 score tells the story.
Pete and Andy were on too and I didn't see them play, but the win was convincing I hear. As was Alisdair's against Nick who raced to the club only to get beaten. Tough luck Nick!
We all headed to the bar where I counted 4 pints of orange and lemonade and 2 pints of lime & soda. Yes a high octane evening indeed. I think we were all home, tucked up with a Horlicks by 11pm!!!
Good to see my old pals from Sundridge and we'll get you in the return when we can find at least someone from our top 4 to blooming well play! |
