| Report: | Well, it was the last match of this year and BCC were looking to maintain their 100% record of not losing a single individual match.
Although we have lost our number one, Michel (why did his parents chose a girl’s name for a boy?), to our second team, I was still confident of maintaining our record given that Mike was an ex-member of Nuffield so had insider knowledge. He predicted easy wins for us all especially for himself at number 5 given that he regularly used to beat their current number 1.
Although Mike’s prediction came true for his team mates it was less accurate for himself.His opponent Dave won 3-1 even though Dave quizzed every decision that went against him by two different markers.
The only other close match was between Keeley and Richard, but after a mid-match team pep talk, Keeley won the last two games 9-0 to win comfortably in the end 3-2.
So in the bar whilst sitting down for food I wondered how Mike would take his defeat. Some players might sulk, some might find excuses, some might even turn to drink, but not Mike. Instead Mike turned to sausages. I counted at least four on his plate along with a helping of chips and beans. I also suspect he lifted a few more when I went to the bar. At least we know what to get him for Christmas.
PS - bizzarely Mike's name no longer appears on the player drop down list. I think the gods are trying to tell us something. |
