Report

Report:First on were Jack and Flat Eric at 3, overall Jack's superior speed proved to be the deciding factor in this match. Both players being extremely fit the rallys seemed to go on forever. But there again anything over four shots each is forever at our level!

Heinz (because of the amount of tins he hits each week) was having an off week. Having narrowly lost for the second team at 2 the night before Heinz as called up because of the loss of Log Head at 2 due to having to look after the kids while the wife was at work. A closely fought contest with Heinz struggling to hit the ball (or the wall above the red line) but fortunately just managing to hold on to get a deserved result. This was a milestone for Heinz as it was the first time in nearly a year that he had been able to complete a match against Bexley without throwing his handbag around the court!

Next were number 4's After a dazzling performance in the first where Lee won the game with the loss of just one point. The following three games were littered an array of mishits from Fatboy that even a man of Lee's speed and fitness couldn't return. With a few unforced errors thrown into the mix by Lee Fredericks notched up their second win of the night.

I didn't see the shock result of the night. Aggroman managing to overcome Nanu at 2 to clinch victory for the underdogs.

Last on at 1 were The Brain and Alan. Brain's speed, shots and disguise proved to be just too much for Alan to deal with despite some quite unbelievable retrieving.

Interviewed after the match Bexley Captain Lee admitted that his team were concerned at the possibility of gaining promotion to the second division and threw the match to avoid meeting their second team next season. (There's nothing like planning ahead!) Conversely Fredericks were spurred on to their second successive win (surely a record for them at this stage of the season) by the fear of being relegated to meet their ever-improving second team next year. Fredericks now occupying a potential Champions League spot instead of their normal position in the relegation zone.

An enjoyable night out for the team. With Flat Eric disappearing after his game to attend a family engagement (I think Sooty and Sweep were coming over for a takeaway) The Brain kept Fredericks unbeaten record up in the bar by polishing off two meals in the time that most people had eaten one.
