Report: | Two one sided affairs at 2 and 4 with Paul and Geoff making short work of Jack and Malcolm, but the other three games were close enough to make things interesting. Jon-Marc at No1 jumped out to a 2 nil lead against Richard. But the whiley Richard fired himself up and produced a great comeback. Even so the final two games went to tie breaks and J-M was very unlucky to lose.Lots of good squash played during this one.
I played Dulwich old boy Alex at No3. Even though I say so myself,I played well and made things hard for Alex. However, his greater stamina proved the differance, but not by much. I'll beat him next time once I've shifted the half ton thats around my waist.
Steve at No5 produced his customary performance against Kevin. He kept the crowd interested, and got Kevin's hopes up, by throwing away a two nil lead to make it 2-2 only to re-focus and win the fifth. In my memory this is not the first time these two have had this type of match against eachother. Steve continues to be our most consistant winning player. Maybe I should play him higher.
Alex provided a great meal and as always Sydenham were good company. Not the result I wanted in this local derby, but theres always the return at our place to look forward to. REVENGE WILL BE OURS!!! |
